RESOLUTION #2024-135
To approve agreement between the IDOT and the City
of Monticello in Re: Highway 38 Overlay Project
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has worked with the DOT related to their proposed improvements to Iowa 38 within Monticello, and,
WHEREAS, The DOT will design, let, and inspect construction of the following described project in accordance with the project plans and DOT standard specifications:
Hot mix asphalt (HMA) resurfacing and new HMA paved shoulders along Iowa 38 from its east junction with Iowa 64 to U.S. 151
WHEREAS, As part of the HMA paving project, the LPA also requested pavement of the apron and side road fillet of Shover Drive. The LPA will reimburse the DOT for its share of the project costs estimated at $5472. The actual amount of reimbursement will be based on actual quantities construction and contract unit prices
WHEREAS, The City worked with the IDOT to put together an agreement that will result in the work listed above and resurfacing of that portion of Highway 38, with the DOT covering costs associated thereto as outlined in an agreement between the parties, same being identified by the IDOT as STPN-038-3(065)—2C-53, and with the City covering costs associated with the HMA surfacing of the Shover Drive fillet, and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the HMA surfacing is in the best interests of the City, and further finds that the proposed agreement, as recommended for approval by the City Engineer and the City Administrator, is also appropriate.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 16th day of September, 2024, that the proposed Agreement between the IDOT and the City of Monticello, IDOT Agreement # STPN-038-3(063)—2C-53 should be and is hereby approved, with the Mayor being authorized to execute same on behalf of the City Council.
