RESOLUTION NO. 19-35
To award the 2019 North Sycamore Street Reconstruction Project Bid Alternate #1 to Horsfield Construction, Inc. in the amount of $16,347.00
WHEREAS, the Council previously adopted a final Resolution of Necessity in connection with the 2019 N. Sycamore Street Reconstruction Project (the “Project”); and
WHEREAS, the Council previously scheduled, published notice, and held a hearing on the final plans and specifications, proposed form of contract, and cost estimate for the 2019 N. Sycamore Street Reconstruction Project, and
WHEREAS, the Council previously approved the final plans and specifications, form of contract, and cost estimate, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that bids on this project were sought and that six bids were received, with the lowest responsive, responsible bidder being Horsfield Construction, Inc. with a base bid in the amount of $1,934,839.70, same coming in below the Engineer’s estimate and otherwise deemed appropriate by the City Engineer and City staff, and
WHEREAS, the Council previously awarded Horsfield Construction, Inc. the base bid in the amount of $1,934,839.70, and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined in the best interest to consider each of these Bid Alternates separately: Bid Alternate #1 related to additional Water Main improvements at a cost of $16,347 and Bid Alternate #2 related to the installation of Period Street Light Fixtures in the amount of $73,000, and Bid Alternate #3 related to adjusted completion date, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that Bid Alternative #1 related to additional Water Main improvements at a cost of $16,347 from Horsfield Construction, Inc. was otherwise deemed appropriate by the City Engineer and City staff, and
NOW, THEREFORE, It Is Resolved by the City Council of the City of Monticello, Iowa, as follows:
Section 1. That the Bid Alternative #1 related to additional Water Main improvements received from Horsfield Construction, Inc., associated with this project is hereby accepted and the Bid Alternative #1 is hereby awarded to Horsfield Construction Inc. in the amount of $16,347.00, along with the base bid.
Section 2. The Contractor is hereby authorized to commence work on the portion of the project covered by Bid Alternate #1 upon authorization to do so by the City Engineer.
Section 3. All resolutions or parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
