RESOLUTION #19-148
Resolution to approve Creation of a Committee to work on Proposed Building Code and Enforcement Plan
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello Planning & Zoning Board has recommended that the City Council approve the creation of a Committee to study building codes, enforcement of building codes, as well as the benefits and/or detriments of the passage of a building code, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Board should be followed and that the City Administrator should create a committee of two P & Z members and three other interested persons, preferably those who work in construction or trades, and
WHEREAS, The Council also finds it appropriate and therefore directs the City Administrator to invite the City of Anamosa and the Jones County Board of Supervisors to participate in this study.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 21st day of October that the City Administrator is directed to create a committee of two P & Z members and three others, preferably from construction trades, to study the potential adoption of a building code and the enforcement thereof, identifying both the positives and negatives of a building code, and further directs the City Administrator to invite the City of Anamosa and Jones County to also participate in this study.
