IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #18-17
Approving Airport Farm Lease Agreement between the
City of Monticello and Mike First
WHEREAS, the City of Monticello has leased the airport farm ground to Mike First since March 1, 2012, and
WHEREAS, The Airport Board and Mike First have recently agreed to the terms of a new two year lease of the Airport farm ground at an average rent of $216.67 per acre, said rate deemed to be an acceptable and market value rent, and
WHEREAS, The Board found that having a consistent tenant for a series of years was good for the Airport, as a long-term tenant would work to improve the land and the yield and in the unique case of an airport a long-term tenant would also know, understand, and hopefully follow the unique rules, regulations, and restrictions associated with farming the grounds of an airport, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the recommendation of the Board is appropriate and the Council finds that the approval of the lease agreement is justified and in the best interests of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of the entry into the proposed two (2) year lease agreement between the City of Monticello and Mike First at the annual rental rate of $61,750 and directs the Mayor to execute the lease on behalf of the City Council and further directs the City Administrator to obtain the signature of Mike First as tenant.
