IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #18-03
Resolution to Approve proposed EMT training agreement and Cost Share
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello Ambulance Service desires to see to the training and employment of EMT’s as part of the regular operations of the Monticello Ambulance Service, and
WHEREAS, An agreement has been drafted that will require the signatures of City representatives and EMT Candidates wherein the City, through the MEMT, agrees under circumstances set forth therein, to cover a portion of the EMT training costs with provisions requiring that the EMT Candidate reimburse the City if the EMT Candidate does not meet certain obligations set forth within said agreement, and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the training and use of EMT’s is in the best interests of the Ambulance Department and that an investment by the MEMT and City of Monticello is appropriate, under the terms of the proposed agreement, to promote the training and active participation of certified EMT’s with the Monticello Ambulance Department, and
WHEREAS, The City Council acknowledges their understanding that the MEMT will cover all costs but for $235 +/- that will be covered by the EMT candidate and that the EMT candidate will in return enter into an agreement with the City agreeing to reimburse the City should the EMT candidate not satisfy their obligations under the agreement, and
WHEREAS, The City Council further agrees to reimburse the MEMT in an amount equal to 50% of their investment in EMT certification expenses associated with those EMT’s that successfully complete the training, become certified, and meet the active duty requirements and any other obligations placed upon the candidate by the City of Monticello Ambulance Department Education Agreement, and
WHEREAS, The City Council further agrees, by the approval of this Resolution, to seek the enforcement of the agreements and the collection of any amounts due under the agreements from those candidates that do not meet the obligations imposed upon them by the terms thereof and in the event of successful collection efforts to reimburse the MEMT those sums that have been collected, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the Ambulance Director and the City Administrator should be authorized to execute the proposed “City of Monticello Ambulance Department Education Agreement” on behalf of the City,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the City of Monticello Ambulance Department Education Agreement, and authorizes the Ambulance Director and City Administrator to execute same on behalf of the City of Monticello.
