IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #16-68
Resolution to approve repair project at intersection of W. Grand and
S. Walnut Streets, and authorizing hiring of Accent Construction to
complete the total removal and replacement
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello Public Works Dpt. made various repairs to water utility infrastructure in and or about the intersection of W. Grand and Walnut Street in the fall of 2015, and
WHEREAS, The intersection is brick, and due to the repairs, there are not relatively large asphalt patches in the street and areas of the street, curb and gutter, and sidewalks in that area are also in poor shape, and
WHEREAS, A quote was requested from Accent Construction to repair approximately one-half of the intersection as well as areas outside and adjacent to said intersection, and a second quote was received from them to repair the entire intersection, with the first quote for the partial repair coming in at $11,521 with the additional sum of $3,632 being the quote for the balance of the intersection, up to the exiting curb and gutter on the west, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds it appropriate to remove the bricks from the entire intersection and pave the entire intersection, hiring Accent Construction to perform the work consistent with their written quote in the total amount of $15,153
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct that the entire brick intersection of W. Grand and Walnut Street be removed and replaced by Accent Construction consistent with their quote in the amount of $15,153.
