The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 16-32
RE: Public Safety and Aesthetic benefits of undergrounding overhead lines,
street light circuits, and the removal of associated poles.
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to improve the safety and aesthetics of the public right-of-way along E. South Street from S. Cedar Street to S. Main Street during the E. South Street reconstruction project, by the undergrounding of all overhead lines, street light circuits, and the removal of all existing street light and utility poles, with new period LED street lights to be purchased and installed by the City, same to be metered with usage fees charged to the City of Monticello, and
WHEREAS, the City Council has agreed to pay Interstate Power and Light Company for the incremental cost of undergrounding said overhead lines and street light circuits.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Monticello, Iowa, that the City Administrator is hereby authorized to execute the Street Light Approval form related to the removal of all currently existing street light fixtures within the scope of the E. South Street Reconstruction project, same to be replaced with period LED light fixtures to be purchased and installed by the City during said project, and further authorizes the Administrator to execute any and all other documents necessary to effect the undergrounding of those currently existing overhead electric lines, lights, and poles identified by the final plans and specifications for said project as being placed underground, same determined to be in the best interest of the City of Monticello and its’ residents.
