IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #15-88
Approving Contract for Commercial Dumpster Unit Collection & Disposal Services
WHEREAS, The City Council previously directed the City Administrator to investigate the negatives, positives, and costs associated with contracting or “privatizing” some portion of the sanitation collection process, and
WHEREAS, The Council has considered bids received from multiple contractors interested in collecting waste in Monticello, and
WHEREAS, The Council has determined that the Community would be best served by the continuation of City owned and operated residential garbage collection and commercial garbage collection, not including dumpsters, with the City entering into a contract with a private company to collect dumpsters within the community, and
WHEREAS, The Council also considered whether or not changes should be made to the collection of recyclables in the community and while the Council found that the use of recycling containers was worth looking into also recognizes that the City has as current recycling agreement with Rolling Sanitation that will not expire until May, 2018 and, therefore, any potential change on that front must wait until that time, and
WHEREAS, The City Administrator has negotiated the terms of an agreement with Republic and the Council that same should be approved, said agreement providing a starting date of December 1, 2015.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the Contract for Commercial Dumpster Unit Collection Services between the City of Monticello and Allied Waste Management Services of Dubuque / / Republic Services of Dubuque.
