IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-62
Resolution to approve Monticello Carpet and Interiors building plan.
WHEREAS, Monticello Carpet & Interiors owners wish to construct a new commercial building in downtown Monticello where their prior structure stood before being destroyed by fire in 2011, and
WHEREAS, A building plan has been presented to the City Council for review and approval as a condition precedent to the review and issuance of a Building Permit by the PW Director, and
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello does not have a building code, but is concerned that new downtown buildings are constructed with fire risks/hazards in mind, and
WHEREAS, The architect on this project, Matthew Lundh, has identified the fire ratings for the side walls of the building that meet design standards, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the general design and appearance of the proposed structure will fit the downtown environment and will be an asset to the community for many years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of the Monticello Carpet and Interiors Building Plan and authorizes the issuance of a building permit by the Public Works Director after all other conditions of the building permit are met.
