IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #14-44
Resolution to approve the Emergency Services Agreement between the City of Monticello and the City of Hopkinton
WHEREAS, The City of Monticello has had a continuing relationship with the City of Hopkinton, from an emergency services standpoint, for a number of years, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that it is appropriate and in the best interests of the City to modify the terms of our relationship with the City of Hopkinton, and
WHEREAS, The City previously maintained and operated an ambulance unit from a location within Hopkinton, with Hopkinton volunteers treated as Monticello volunteers from a pay standpoint, and with all costs related to the operation of the unit in Hopkinton falling on the City of Monticello, and
WHEREAS, The new agreement separates the City of Monticello and its’ Ambulance Service from the City of Hopkinton, from a business standpoint, the new agreement providing that the City of Monticello will continue to provide Emergency Medical Services to the City of Hopkinton, but will have no continuing obligation to provide for a unit in the City of Hopkinton, with the understanding that the City of Hopkinton will commence operation of a first responders unit and will take on all responsibility for and expense related to the operation of their first responder unit,
WHEREAS, The Council finds that the proposed 28E Agreement, between the City of Hopkinton and the City of Monticello, a copy of same attached hereto, is appropriate and in the best interests of the City and should, therefore, be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve the proposed 28E Agreement between the City of Monticello and the City of Hopkinton, as proposed, and authorizes the Mayor to execute same on behalf of the Council.
