The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION # 13-89
Resolution to approve Contract Amendment #2 between City of Monticello and Jerry McElmeel related to Julin demolition.
WHEREAS, McElmeel Excavating and Grading was hired, after a bid process, to see to the demolition and related clean-up of the Julin site as part of a FEMA supported flood buy out, and
WHEREAS, the Council finds that during the project it was determined that additional asbestos containing material (ACM) existed and that additional sums would be spent to abate the additional ACM, and
WHEREAS, the Council has determined, based upon the oversight and advice of ECICOG and Evan’s Inspection Service, the company responsible for the asbestos inspection of the facility, that additional asbestos did exist, but not in the additional quantity originally believed, and for that reason a second amendment to the agreement between the City of Monticello and McElmeel is appropriate, said amendment reducing the amount owed from $59,335.00 to $57,574.00, a reduction of $1,761.00.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby approve of amendment #2 to the agreement between McElmeel Excavating and Grading, reducing the overall contract price from $59,335.00 to $57,574.00.
