The City of Monticello, Iowa
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #12-55
Approving Lumpa request for reduction in sanitary sewer fees
related to excessive water usage.
WHEREAS, Paul and Phyllis Lumpa recently experienced an abnormally high water/sewer bill, and
WHEREAS, It is not clear what caused the abnormally high bill, however, a few months earlier there were a series of higher bills as well, and
WHEREAS, A City water department employee inspected the meter and other aspects of the property and found no evidence that the meter had malfunctioned in any manner nor did any evidence of water leakage appear to be present and the owners informed the employee that they were aware of no leaks, and
WHEREAS, the Lumpas have requested that the Council consider waiving some portion of the water or sanitary sewer bill in light of the abnormal usage, and
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the request and based upon the fact that no evidence exists to suggest that the water would have went anywhere other than the sanitary sewer that it cannot, consistent with policy and past practice grant a credit under these circumstances.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa in session this 2nd day of April, 2012, does hereby approve the request for a reduction in sanitary sewer fees against the utility account related to the property located at 626 Park Drive, Monticello, Iowa.
