RESOLUTION #12-127
Resolution to not approve prepayment of Estimated City of Monticello share of
Amber Road construction project to Jones County.
IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
WHEREAS, The City Council previously agreed to be involved in the Amber Road repair project as proposed by the Jones County Engineer’s Office, with an estimated City cost, after phase 1 and phase 2 of the project totaling $128,791, with the understanding that the city would pay whatever lesser or increased cost resulted after bids and project completion, and
WHEREAS, Since the Council’s approval of said project, the County Engineer has informed the City, through the City Administrator, the Mayor, and all Council members, that he would request that the City pay the full amount of their estimated project costs up front to the County, in the amount of $128,791, and
WHEREAS, The City Council finds that the City should not agree to the request of the County Engineer that the City pay in advance for contemplated repairs.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Monticello, through its’ City Council, in session this 17th day of September, 2012, that the City Council disapproves of the County Engineer’s request of the City to pay in advance for contemplated repairs to the Amber Road as proposed by the County Engineer in his letter to the City dated September 4, 2012.
