IN THE NAME AND BY THE AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF MONTICELLO, IOWA
RESOLUTION #11-97
Directing Boards and Commissions of the City of Monticello to meet in the
Community Media Center, a/k/a Monticello City Council Chambers
WHEREAS, the City Council has considered whether or not all Boards and Commissions of the City should be directed to meet in the City Council Chambers so that all City meetings would be centrally located, and
WHEREAS, City Boards and/or Commissions are appointed by the Mayor, Council, or in some cases by the Mayor subject to the approval of the Council, and with that said, the Mayor Pro Tem, and the Council, do hereby find that all City Boards and/or Commissions shall meet in the Community Media Center at the Monticello Renaissance Center so that all City Board meetings are centrally located, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that a Board / Commission may from time to time need to meet at the location of the facility or location over which they have jurisdiction, such as the Airport, Cemetery, Library, and Park and Recreation Boards, and in those cases where the Board/Commission needs to meet at a location other than the Media Center, that the Board shall make every effort to meet at the Media Center to take care of their regular business before adjourning to reconvene off-site, and
WHEREAS, The Council finds that open, accessible, public meetings at a regular and consistent location is in the best interests of the City of Monticello and its’ residents
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Monticello, Iowa does hereby direct all of the Boards and/or Commissions of the City to meet in the Community Media Center, in the Monticello Renaissance Center, as directed herein said practice to commence forthwith.
